Provins, an area rich in history

Located in the centre of the medieval town of Provins, the hotel Aux Vieux Remparts is perfectly situated to visit the historic town: only steps away from the fortified walls and the numerous historic treasures, Provins was once the Capital of the Counts of Champagne. Provins also hosts Festivals and Fairs all year round to suit everyone, children and adults.
Spring time brings the Eggs Hunt at Easter. Organised in the middle of the medieval town, you will discover all the medieval buildings and monuments but also find the chocolate eggs!

The town is also renowned for its book fair bringing together lots of writers and artists and its annual Medieval Festival of Provins which takes place in June for a weekend: the town is set back into its middle aged state and offers a variety of animations which can be enjoyed by all.

A light and sound show is also available in June to reflect on the historical past of the town in the 12th century. An amazing journey back in time!: The gleams of the past - 3 dates in July and August – when the town is lit with candle lights. This is always a great success.

The Harvest festival, set on the last weekend of August is also a good opportunity to discover the medieval town. It s worth staying in Provins to enjoy the great atmosphere which fill the streets, the harvest theatres, the parades and animations for all ages!
In December, during one weekend, Provins features its annual Christmas market: street artists, medieval musicians, gift stands are set throughout the town.The atmosphere is magical. Also not to be missed, The Falconry and Chivalry Show in the superb theatre of the fortified walls. You will get to know everything about the art of Falconry inherited from the middle age.

You will be amazed by the Eagles free flight show. The Chivalry tournament, which takes place within the fortified walls near the Porte Saint-Jean, is also an event not to be missed. Presented and produced by Equestrio: joust and fireworks will be enjoyed by all ages. Both shows are shown daily during high season.
